Masood Kamali-Moghaddam

Project leader
Alzheimers Disease/ Chronic pain / pharmaceutical microbiology

Masood Kamali-Moghaddam received his PhD in Pharmaceutical Microbiology at Dept. of Pharmaceutical Biosciences at Uppsala University where he studied bacterial genetics and the importance of transposition and site-specific recombination in dissemination of antibiotic resistance. He held a first post-doctoral position at the Center for Molecular Genetics at the University of California, San Diego, and a second post-doctoral position at Dept. Of Genetics and Pathology/ Div. of Molecular Medicine at Uppsala University. Here he worked with development and application of sensitive molecular tools for proteome analyses. Currently, he is a senior scientist at the same department and continues working on development of highly sensitive molecular tools for validating biomarkers and early diagnostics, with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and chronic pain, and also on different forms of cancer.
The Center provides us with excellent opportunities to apply our unique technologies to better understand neurological diseases, which hopefully will lead to development of novel diagnostic tools.
